Hernando County Commissioner candidate Brian Hawkins has been a resident of Hernando County since 2007 and is a lifelong Florida Resident, originally hailing from St Petersburg, Florida. His professional career began and continues as an entrepreneur, allowing him to exercise his exceptional leadership and delegation skills with the crucial ability to function well both independently and in fast-paced business and political environments. With more than 15 years of extensive experience, Mr. Hawkins is fully adept at supervising and coordinating large management teams and developing and implementing new operating processes, he also excels at monitoring and analyzing data and reducing unnecessary expenses, while investing in technology and infrastructure to ensure long-term success. 

Businessman and Entrepreneur

Throughout the years, Mr. Hawkins has proven on numerous occasions that he is a dedicated and results-oriented individual. He has built his career on becoming an expert in the Government contract process, from the Request for Quote/Request for Proposal bid process to the implementation and safe execution of awarded contracts for many City, County, State, and Federal Governments. For instance, Structural Fumigation Services is the most heavily regulated pest management operation in the State of Florida, and he has adeptly navigated regulations, with a safety-first approach to operations and 100% contract delivery.

US Navy Veteran

A veteran of the United States Navy, Mr. Hawkins served onboard the USS John F Kennedy CV-67 from 2000 to 2004. In addition, he served in support of Operation Enduring Freedom Combat Cruise from March to October 2002. He received numerous awards and accommodations during his service, including a Naval Achievement Medal, Meritorious Unit Accommodation and Service during time of war. He is a staunch supporter of military active duty, veterans, and their families, as well as our brave first responders. Honor, Courage, and Commitment are values he learned at a young age and that continue to be the cornerstone of his life. At the end of his military service, he was honorably discharged as a BM2 (SW) Second Class Petty Officer E-5.

Leadership and Experience

In 2018, Mr. Hawkins was nominated and completed the Chamber of Commerce “Leadership Hernando,” and in 2015, he was a member of the inaugural class of the US Small Business Administrations “Emerging Leaders Initiative,” for the Greater Tampa Bay region, being recognized for diversity in the workplace.  He has been blessed to call his work team members family and to continue to lead in the International Pest Management Industry.
